BARNES, DAVIS ELECTED TO 2013 AGRiP BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 
The Association of Governmental Risk Pools (AGRiP) is pleased to announce the election of two new members to its Board of Directors. Tom Barnes, the CEO and General Counsel of the Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia (MIABC), and Brett Davis, the CEO of Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) in Illinois, were elected from amongst seven strong candidates by the Designated Representatives of AGRiP’s member pools.
 
“AGRiP is poised to play a central role in assisting pools in coming to grips with the regulatory, capital modeling, and enterprise risk issues they face, and I am excited to be able to contribute to its leadership, “ said Barnes, who has been active with AGRiP as well as with the NLC-RISC consortium for a number of years. Davis, who currently chairs AGRiP’s Membership Practices Committee and serves on the Governmental Entities Mutual Board, looks forward to helping AGRiP deliver value to its members. “With an engaged membership, a focused and supportive Board, and a creative and committed staff, there are many opportunities for AGRiP to increase its value, and I am thrilled to be a part of these exciting, transitional times,” he said.
 
Barnes and Davis assume seats being vacated, as a result of term limits, by Mike Rhyner, the CEO of the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority (MMRMA), and Shawn Bubb, the Director of Insurance Services for the Montana Schools Group Insurance Authority. Both have served as AGRiP’s Board Chair during their tenures.  Jenny Emery, Executive Director of the organization, noted that “AGRiP has been well-served since its founding by a steady succession of excellent pooling professionals on its Board, including, most recently, Shawn Bubb and Mike Rhyner. We thank them for their service, and welcome Tom and Brett to join us as we grow AGRiP’s reach and influence,” she said. The two new Board members will be seated for their first four-year terms  when the full Board meets for its annual planning retreat in late January, 2013, at which time officers will be elected. Biographies and thoughts about the AGRiP’s role in pooling are included in a document found on AGRiP’s website, HERE. The document also includes information of the full nine-member AGRiP Board of Directors.
